Then we were off to Cincinnati to see Daddy's friend Matt Heineke get married. Here are some shots of you having fun with Daddy at the reception. Matt and his wife Lisa were so excited we were coming to the wedding, they told us that they were telling everyone they knew that they had guests coming from Malibu and that there was this beautiful "model baby" coming to the wedding (that's you!).
The next day we made time to visit the Cincinnati zoo before heading out of town. It was hot, hot, hot, but we had a great visit.
Of course I wanted to start out by visiting the giraffes first thing and we were not disappointed. The giraffe exhibit was really neat where we actually stood up on a platform so we were near their heads.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
We saw lots of other animals, but I wasn't very good about taking pictures. We got right up close and personal with a polar bear, but it was a busy area and I didn't get any pictures of that. Here are you and Daddy looking at some other bears.
And of course we had to find some time for you to play too.
When we finished up at the zoo we hit the road and were headed to Olney to spend the week with family. You had a blast in Grandpa Mike & Grandma Norma's huge yard running around, checking out new things, and mostly playing with rocks.
While we were there we celebrated your cousin Levi's 4th birthday.
Look at the excitement on Holly's face. I'm sure it is only excitement for Levi, and has nothing to do with her own feelings about what was inside the gift. *wink, wink*
No birthday is complete without cake.
You had lots of fun while we were there playing and relaxing too. You warmed up to everyone really quickly and did great the whole trip.
We got to see our cousins Allison and Alex Looper while we were there too.
I love to think that you are playing nicely with Ally, though it sort of appears that you were taking the box from her.
Levi hard at work.
Your first golf cart ride!
Playing in the dirt with the big kids. And look, you are barefoot. It almost killed me.
A jacket?!? Yes! It actually cooled off after the first couple of hot days and we had great weather for most of the trip. We are pretty sure we brought it with us from California.
We managed to get a few good family pictures with everyone together.
Okay by this point you were all growing restless.
Playing with Grandma Tami. You had a runny nose and when she got out a box of tissue you went to work trying to pull every last one out and tear them to pieces. She let you do it and I let her let you do it because she's a Grandma and she's allowed.
Finally we headed back to Indianapolis for the last night of our trip. It was the 4th of July and Matt and Rene' had a cookout that day. You got to play with the famous Jacob that we hear about from time to time. He was really sweet and kept trying to give you hugs. :)
Uncle Matt's fancy bubble blowing machine was pretty fascinating.
Homemade ice cream in progress. Yum yum!
And a quick trip to the park on our last day.
We had such a great visit this year it was even harder than usual to come home. Daddy and I agreed this was by far the best trip home we've had since we've lived in California. We are looking forward to another visit in a couple of months and are thankful we have such a great traveler. Great job, Kiddo!
