Springfield Trip

Summer trip to Illinois!  Grandma Tami has been living in Arkansas, so since we had nothing really tying us to Olney this year we decided to meet up with everyone at Aunt Brandee's new house instead.  The timing worked out that Grandma and Grandpa were able to get on our same flights from Palm Springs to St. Louis so we got an extended visit with them!

Edie always loves fixing your hair.

They had great weather while we were there.  We enjoyed a couple of beautiful evenings at local parks.

I asked Brandee if we could visit her classroom and you were so excited to find that she has a desk just like Mrs. Marron's and YOU got to sit at it!

Tie-dye!

More park time.  This was the day you took off too fast in the parking lot and sort of crashed and burned in the loose gravel.  There were a lot of tears and Band-Aids but eventually you made a little time to play.
Finished tie-dye.

Girl time with Aunt Brandee....drawing and coloring.
And the two of you made a ballerina shirt!

We had a great trip!  It was fun to spend a week just relaxing and enjoying our time with family with no real commitments and no running back and forth trying to split our time.

You monopolized Holly and got her to tell you all about Harry Potter.  When we returned home you spent 4 hours one afternoon interrogating me with questions about Harry Potter.  It continued for days.  You would ask if we could swim just so you could get my full attention to ask questions about Harry Potter.  You laid all the books out in order on the living room floor and would ask questions about the pictures on the covers.  On Day 3 you asked how long you were allowed to leave the books laying there on the floor.  We talked about when and where and what they eat.  You asked about their sleeping arrangements and schedules.  You wanted to know anything and everything you could possibly think of.  And every time you tried to ask about Dumbledore you called him Bumblebee.

Our only hiccup came on our way home.  I was already a little anxious about traveling with you while still recovering from surgery.  Our flight had a layover in Phoenix and the second flight got canceled.  At this point I was so tired of travel that I didn't even want to wait for a reschedule the next day.  So we marched down to the rental car shuttles and got a car and drove home then and there.  You slept most of the drive anyway and I was somehow not all that tired.  We drove straight through and got home around 10pm and I was so thankful to not be still in Phoenix when I woke up the next morning.
