May has come and gone in a hurry.  More dancing and distance learning, lots of reading, swimming, and fun!

This is my attempt to break you of your "apostrophe before every S" habit.  You LOVE your apostrophes.

Always reading!  I don't even remember you reading The Sisters 8 again, because ever since we read the first 2 Harry Potter books you've been obsessed.  We read them together once, and you've read each one at least 5 times since.  You play Harry Potter Barbies, Harry Potter Legos, Harry Potter video games.  We talk about Harry Potter most of the day, every day.  You even pretend to be your own imaginary character, Holly Potter, who is Harry's older sister.

When you got in trouble for jumping on the bed, Dad told you to sit in your room and write about what beds are for.  #1 tells me how seriously you took this.

Summer is here in the desert so that means lots and lots of pool time!

My quarantine gift to myself.  You were so eager to try it out.  I just put it at a slow walking pace but you didn't want to stay on long anyway.

Mother's Day:  Ode to Mom.

You had lots of special gifts wrapped for me and couldn't wait for me to open them first thing when we got up in the morning.

K:  "I gave Mom $5."
Dad:  "$5?!?  For my birthday you only gave me $1.  Do you like Mom 5 times better?"
K:  "It's 4 times more.  Mom is 4 times better."
Dad:  *sullenly accepts the answer without correcting the math*

Trying to get a Mother's Day picture but you couldn't be bothered to look away from your diamond painting.

Mrs. Fisher mentioned in one of her videos that she was trying diamond painting over spring break.  After break you specifically asked if she could show us what it looked like so she sent a separate email just for you to see a picture and also told you that they have designs for kids too.  We ordered one for you and you loved doing it and couldn't wait to show Mrs. Fisher.  Here is what they look like.

Trying to keep Word Work fun.

Despite the quarantine, we made one very big exception for your friend Charlotte when her new baby sister was being born.  Charlotte came to stay with us for the better part of 3 days and it was the first friend any of us has seen in person in months.

Charlotte's stay certainly had it's ups and downs, but she's such a sweet girl and we were thrilled to help out her family.  To top it off, her Marine Daddy made it home, at long last, the same day Eloise came home from the hospital.

Distance learning project to build a boat out of foil.  You made 4 designs and we tested each to see which could hold the most pennies.

This was the winner, which held a whopping 60 pennies!  You wanted to name all your boats and the names were awesome.  There was the Flat Bat, Mom Fist (literally made out of forming the foil around my fist), Hufflepuff Hairanon, and our winner.....The Mexican Trench.

 Last art assignment of the year.

The longest spelling test ever, which actually says a lot about you because we went through 6 pages of words and still only came up with 4 that you needed to work on.  At that point Mrs. Marron just assigned you 6 additional words.

Question for Mystery Science.  We have been watching these fun science videos every week and you keep telling me you want to submit your own question.  Finally during the last week of school Mrs. Marron offered to submit a question if anyone wanted to.  We'll see if yours gets picked!

In honor of the SpaceX launch, we got to make our own rockets for Technology.

Last Day of School!

I usually try to put together some ideas of things to keep you busy for the summer and sometimes make it into a little gift for the last day of school.  I think this year's was more exciting than ever because, more than anything....

....you have been dying to read the 3rd Harry Potter book.

You also got a Gryffindor robe, Hermione's wand, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.  I read The Prizoner of Azkaban with you over the next 3 days and when we were finished, you read the whole thing straight through first thing the next morning, then immediately started it over again.

Last day of school interview, broken into 4 videos because you had a lot to say.
