Our Little Peanut: June 2021

After lots of practice, your class finally did their performance of The Fairy Godmother's Assistant.

You played the role of the title character!

The school provided ice cream for everyone the last week of school and we made sure you were not left out.

Last day of 2nd grade! Look how happy you are! I was equally happy. It's been a LONG year!

You planned a 4th birthday party for Lemony at 7am on June 4. We all received invitations and everything.

And you insisted on making the party food (breakfast) for everyone. We had peanut butter toast.

Lemony had pupsicles.

You even created this thank you on your phone and sent it to us all after the party.

Making baby yarn owls. Those owls went everywhere with you that week. You even saved them leftover popcorn seeds and gave them flying lessons.

Harry Potter movie marathon with Grandma & Grandpa.

You planned my birthday cake all on your own and Grandma helped you make it. You brought out every cookbook I own and looked through each one to find the perfect recipe.

Plus white chocolate drizzled strawberries!

Birthday morning you insisted on making my breakfast: bagel with chocolate hazelnut butter and a dollop of honey.

After that I got to lounge around and do some fawn-watching while you finished the cakes.

Lemon cookie cakes with lemon glaze. Yummy!

My cousin Brad and his wife Kari were in Seattle for vacation, so we all made the trip to meet them at Discovery Park. It was so great to see Brad and meet Kari for the first time! I'm so glad they were able to make time for us!

I will admit, this was the first big outing we've made and it totally stressed me out. Everything worked out fine in the end, but I was consumed with worry and was EXHAUSTED by the end of the day.

Father's Day! Unfortunately, Dad's gift didn't arrive on time, but we were able to give Grandpa his gift at least.

Dad and I even got to take a day to go out for a LONG, complaint-free hike and lunch together while you got to stay home and have Grandma and Grandpa all to yourself.

We finally gave up on the hot tub. We drained it and it sat empty for several weeks. We tried to pay to have someone come and take it away and they wouldn't do it because of it being on the deck. So, Dad & Grandpa put their heads together and came up with a plan. It took an entire day and was a TON of work, but it is done and the deck is empty and we've spent more time up there in the past couple of weeks than we had the entire time we've lived here. New deck furniture is ordered and we are all very excited.

Meanwhile, us girls had a Grand Tea Party

The entire Pacific Northwest had a record-breaking heat dome consume us for 4 straight days. I'd never even heard of a heat dome, but basically it was a high pressure system hanging around and trapping in the heat like a dome. I read that it was a once in a MILLENNIUM event. We were not thrilled about this, seeing as we just left the desert and we HAVE NO AIR CONDITIONING, but we survived. Here's how:

1. Sleep in the tent. It was actually cooler outside than in our house.

2. Put on a swimsuit and fill the bathtub with cool water. You can hang out in there for a surprisingly long time with a plastic cup and a few water toys.

3. Take an extra shower with cool water before bed.

4. Eat lots of frozen strawberries and cherries.

5. Banana ice cream.

6. Orange juice popsicles.

7. Eat lots of cereal for meals instead of cooking.

8. Hang out in the COOL basement.

9. Keep a fan by your side at all times.

10. WATER. Lots and lots of water.
