As summer started drawing to an end we filled a lot of our time with some fun crafts and projects.

Sewing project! You made little Lavender Relaxation Pouches.

I suggested this idea, but it was based on something you came up with all on your own. One day you took some scraps of felt and asked if you could sew them on your own (with needle and thread). You made me a Doval: the scraps were leftover feathers from your Halloween costume, so pointed on the tips and rounded on the sides which you deemed a Doval = diamond + oval.

You filled the Doval with stuffing and dried lavender and sewed it all on your own. It was awesome and I was totally impressed. So I told you I would keep it by my bed and the lavender would help me sleep better, which led me to suggest you try using the sewing machine to make some similar lavender pouches for yourself and you even mailed a few to some friends.

First day of Summer Jump Start. This was an early back-to-school program that we signed up for to ease you into your new school. Just 6 half days spread over 2 weeks before school started. You had the best time and told me on the way home that this school is way better than Palm Valley and at least AS GOOD as your Malibu school.

Over the two weeks you met some other students, played lots of games, visited the garden every day, went on a hike, and even did a teeny bit of school work.

You are always coming up with creative places to read, but the bathroom counter is unexpected, even for you.

When your bread is shaped like a cat head, you make a cat sandwich.

Back to school night. We got to peek in the classroom and even met a couple of other 3rd graders.

You were feeling a little shy, but that's totally understandable.
